14 Perfect Plaid Skirts That Don’t Read Too Preppy or Too Punk
Perhaps nothing says fall more than plaid. We know, we know. It’s not exactly groundbreaking. But it really is always in fashion once the weather starts to cool down. Although sometimes tartan can come across as way too preppy. Or, on the flip side, far too punk. So we took on the challenge of finding the perfect plaid skirts that are somewhere between both extremes.
In terms of styling, pretty much anything goes. If your skirt of choice has a matching top, go ahead and indulge. Or you can pair it with almost any of your fall sweaters. On those really cold days, layer a high-shine jacket on top.
Regarding length, don’t dismiss miniskirts. As long as they’re made of heftier material, you can just team them with tights or leggings and you’re good to go. Midi and maxi iterations are also strong possibilities. For the former, add in a pair of knee- or thigh-high boots to keep your legs warm. For the latter, slip on a pair of kitten-heel booties to make sure your hem doesn’t graze the ground. (Especially important if there’s any snow or slush.)
