What started out as, “Is Christopher Kane going to Balenciaga?” (Interview Magazine) turned into one of the biggest rumor mills the fashion industry has encountered since the whole musical chairs Dior debacle. Not to mention, plenty of excited tweets. Derek Blasberg tweeted, “Landed! While I was snoozing a thousand feet in the air, the fashion world made a big announcement: Christopher Kane confirmed at Balenciaga.” The Telegraph‘s Hillary Alexander added, “Twittosphere agog with the Christopher Kane to go to Balenciaga rumour! How fabulous if true.” Louis Roe tweeted, “Wow this is BIG and amazing news for fashion… Congrats to my friend  taking the reigns at Balenciaga. You will ROCK! X.” Fashion’s latest “it” model, Cara Delevingne, tweeted her support, “I would love to see Christopher Kane  !”

Excited much? Don’t be, because as it happens, the rumor this time isn’t true. Shortly after the excited speculation hit the net, WWD tweeted, “Christopher Kane denied reports that he will be Balenciaga’s new creative director.” Not so fast—just days later, rumors of a Kane/Balenciaga pairing were once again brought forth as the British designer announced he would be parting ways with Versus, after having helmed the line for the past six seasons.

While Kane himself denied any role at Balenciaga, doesn’t his sudden departure at Versus sound a tad too coincidental? The fashion world appears to think so. “After Denying Balenciaga Rumors, Designer Christopher Kane Parts Ways With Versus.” (StyleCaster) French Vogue added, “Breaking: After 3 years together, Christopher Kane and Versus are to part ways.” So, are the  Balenciaga rumors true? Not according to FabSugar who tweeted, “ is out at Versus, but not going to Balenciaga.” Much more skeptical, The Cut tweeted, “Total coincidence.”

Kate Middleton Disses Kim Kardashian

While on the Brit topic, Kate Middleton further dismisses any speculation of a Kate and Kim BFF moment happening anytime soon. So, just how did Kate snub Kim? Huffington Post Style revealed, “Kate Middleton sends back Kardashian Kollection clothes gifted to her by Kim.” Shocked? You might be the only one, as the fashion community is anything but. “No surprise here! Kate Middleton says ‘No, thank you’ to the #Kardashian klothing line.” (FashionEtcNow) While the Duchess’ snubbery made us LOL quite a bit, it seems that she doesn’t accept merchandise from anyone. Though we must admit that it would have been rather entertaining to see Kate rock a sequined leopard print bandage dress a la Kardashian.
