Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Runway Review

Lest one think that becoming an official couturier has gone to Giambattista Valli's head, he presented a clean-lined, minimally embellished streamlined Spring 2013 collection. Offering a little something for all of his clients (which range from young stars to old moneyed socialites), the designer showed playfully sexy feminine looks interspersed with tailored, but modern, pieces.

In the former category were floral applique shifts and separates, draped and knotted skirts, culotte bottoms, sheer dresses and skirts layered over coordinating underwear, and monochrome lace pieces. More tailored pieces made for a chic blazer, a jumpsuit, and a long vest, along with monochrome skirts that hit just above the knee and skirt suits.
