Last week news broke that Roberto Cavalli was pulling out of his Just Cavalli show just two days before he was set to show in front of an audience of nearly 2,000. The designer opted — in light of the line’s licensee, Ittierre, filing for bankruptcy protection after running out of cash in early February — to do a presentation instead.

Subsequently, Cavalli noted that he made the decision to forgo a show in order to protect the Just Cavalli image and its clients and that the difficult Ittierre situation left him with no guarantee and no certainty that his young line will be as avant-garde as it has always been. He continued by telling reporters that the collection was sub-par and blamed it on Ittierre.

In response Ittierre has announced that they plan on suing the designer claiming that Cavalli’s decision to cancel the Just Cavalli show this season was “unjustified with serious prejudice to Ittierre’s image.”
