Sister Acts: Famous Families with Style

Style must run in the family because quite a few celebrity siblings are collectively standing out on the red carpet. Although these sisters may share the limelight, that doesn’t mean they dress alike. Here’s a stylish breakdown of some fashion-forward sisters.

Ashley, Mary-Kate, and Elizabeth Olsen

Ashley and Mary-Kate have managed to build a fashion empire, but now there’s a third chic sister added to the mix. She’s the "Elizabeth" in their designer label, Elizabeth and James, and this little sister spent 2011 impressing on the big screen as well as on the red carpet. Elizabeth’s older sisters are pretty unique fashion role models. When the twins attended the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City last June, Mary-Kate wore a skirt by The Row combined with a gold Chanel jacket and Louis Vuitton footwear. Ashley also opted for a dress by the duo’s offshoot line partnered with a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels. Elizabeth may have a more conventional style than her sisters, but the younger Olsen still likes to take risks. Her pink Chanel couture ensemble at the BFI London Film Festival premiere of Martha Marcy May Marlene in October was set off by Christian Louboutin pumps.

Kate and Rooney Mara

Rooney has undergone a well-publicized transformation, becoming known for her elegant Gothic style. Take this black Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2012 dress with leather and cut out details, which she paired with Nicholas Kirkwood heels and a black headband for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo German premiere last week. Older sister Kate is definitely more into feminine hues and silhouettes. She came out to support her sister at the film’s New York premiere this past December in a hot pink Christian Dior dress complemented by a Miu Miu clutch and Brian Atwood pumps.

Dakota and Elle Fanning

Dakota has evolved into somewhat of a fashion plate even appearing in sometimes controversial advertisements for Marc Jacobs. The now 17-year-old just admitted, however, that she considers her kid sister Elle a fashion equal. Dakota and Elle are both staples at runway shows like this Rodarte Spring 2012 presentation. Elle's acting career has recently taken off leading the young star to make a lot of notable red carpet appearances. In December, she selected an all-white Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 look for the New York premiere of We Bought a Zoo.

Beyonce and Solange Knowles

Perhaps no sisters are more stylishly different than the Knowles. Big sister Beyonce has a reputation for glamour, which continued throughout her pregnancy. At the launch of her Pulse fragrance in New York City back in September, Beyonce worked a flashy blue sequined Roberto Cavalli blazer over the designer's matching mini with Christian Louboutin heels polishing off the look. Solange really has more of a throwback vibe. While the validity of some of her fashion choices have been heavily debated, she looked amazing at last May's Met Gala in this geometric Dries Van Noten gown accented by Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
