If you’re wanting to launch a localised edition of your magazine into Australia, glossy guru Damien Woolnough is perfect for the job.

After introducing ELLE to Australia alongside the fabulous Justin Cullen in 2013, Damien has now landed the editor-in-chief position for L’Officiel Australia, a French fashion and luxury magazine which launched down under with its January 2015 issue. He announced the news on Twitter this afternoon.

Dimitri Vorontsov has fulfilled the editor-in-chief position since June 2014, but will now focus on his role as CEO and publisher of L’Officiel Australia and New Zealand upon Damien’s arrival. “I’m excited to be working with him,” Damien tells theFashionSpot of Dimitri. “He has invaluable connections internationally in the fashion arena.”

Damien will commence as editor-in-chief on November 17, 2015, explaining on Twitter that he’ll be based in both Melbourne and Sydney for the role, considering himself as a “bicoastal”.

“I will be based in Melbourne and Sydney. With a Melbourne base L’Officiel occupies a unique position on the Australian media landscape but I think it is important for us to have a stronger presence in Sydney,” Damien tells us.

“There is a strong youth focus with a lot of fashion magazines and websites that can often dilute the importance and value of fashion,” he continues.

L’Officiel’s heritage and brand DNA allows us to talk directly to the people who not only aspire to live a fantastic life, but already know why it’s worth falling in love with a real Hermès Birkin, a pair of Chanel boots with quilted heels or a Louis Vuitton diamond-cut Plexiglass trunk, rather than having a cheap fling with a tawdry knock off.”

Congrats, Damien!
