Zac Posen and Google combined tech and fashion for the Spring 2016 season in a way you wouldn’t expect. No, the designer didn’t debut a new Google Glass or smartwatch. Instead, Posen and the tech giant got together with the help of creative technologist Maddy Maxey and Google’s Made with Code initiative to create a dress festooned with LED lights inspired by Los Angeles at night. The dress, which closed the Zac by Zac Posen runway earlier today, was coded by Maxey.
Modeled by Coco Rocha, the dress is black with short sleeves and a mesh skirt, dotted with tiny lights. The dress design was programmed to display different animations, so the look changes without the wearer having to take anything off. Made with Code is a project to help encourage more girls to get into the tech industry, which is famously lacking women. By getting girls interested in technology early, Google hopes to help boost the number of women in the industry for future generations.
Watch Coco twirl while the dress blinks and twinkles in all its glory above.
