We’ve been spoiled lately with actual fashion models gracing the covers of British (and American) fashion titles. Over the last several months, we’ve encountered Iman, Constance Jablonski along with Molly Constable and Seynabou Cissé on British Harper’s Bazaar. Now the magazine blesses us with Natalia Vodianova for September 2021 returning eight years after her last appearance. The Russian supermodel wears an embellished Louis Vuitton dress chosen by Tania Rat-Patron for the charming cover shot captured by Cédric Bihr at the Jardins de Bougainville.
Although our forum members aren’t sold. “Quite a pathetic offering for ‘The Fashion Issue’ and such an unflattering shot of Natalia,” scolded KINGofVERSAILLES.
“She looks demented, her eyes have this strange dullness that’s deeply disturbing,” YohjiAddict pointed out.
“Even Natalia is so bored of her own cover she’s taking a nap,” said Kite.

“Can you imagine how much effort you’d have to put into making Natalia look bad?” added SophiaVB.
“This goes to show you that even the best models can’t push through the creative shortcomings of photographers, stylists and art directors these days. Natalia with Steven Meisel? Magic. This is so pedestrian. Tragic,” proclaimed dior_couture1245.
“Tragic, especially that god-awful cover. I would be mad if I were her and this was the result,” voiced Fiercification.
But not everyone absolutely hates the cover. “I’m conflicted because Natalia Vodianova on the cover of British Harper’s Bazaar should feel like an absolute treat for September, but this feels like a rather lukewarm offering. Yet I don’t exactly loathe the outcome,” confessed vogue28.
“I do like the dark, autumnal mood…” wrote Benn98.
