Now that Ksenia Solovieva has her feet firmly planted at Vogue Russia, we’re hopeful things are about to head in the right direction. After all, last month’s Carolyn Murphy offering was clearly a missed opportunity. During the summer months, we’re used to seeing models dashing across sun-drenched beaches under clear blue skies, but the Russian fashion bible’s July 2021 installment offers an alternative. Henrik Purienne photographs his girlfriend (and one-time Vogue Paris cover star) Natasja Madsen for a pair of truly sexy covers.
The covers received mixed feedback on our forums. “Quite unconventional but beautiful,” approved aracic.
“I have to commend Vogue Russia for running with not one but two bold and unconventional covers this month! These aren’t your typical fashion magazine covers, but very simply sell the idea summer is here and despite the black and white photography, I find both covers refreshing!” raved vogue28.

“So happy to see this, I love Purienne’s work and extremely happy to see the gorgeous Natasja here, an extremely underrated model!” declared GERGIN.
“It looks like a supplement for FHM‘s 100 Sexiest Women in the World issue. I quite like it,” crmsnsnwflks chimed in.
But not everyone shared the same sentiment. “No idea why everyone likes these extremely amateur covers. Literally first-course, A-level photography…” disapproved dontbeadrag.
“Surely there must be a picture of her with her face showing that is worthy of a cover,” added oaklee91.
“Why the black and white? This could’ve been great with color,” FashionMuseDior pointed out.
“Both covers are not necessary to begin with. They only work as editorial shots,” voiced cottonmouth13.
