As announced back in March, Willow Smith is Chanel’s latest ambassadress and her debut as the face of the iconic French fashion house is finally here. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Claudia Schiffer, Cara Delevingne and Lily-Rose Depp, Willow’s first role is starring in Chanel’s eyewear campaign for Fall 2016. Photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, the 15-year-old is a natural as she models the latest collection of sunglasses in a series of striking black and white images.
The campaign seemed to leave the majority of our forum members very pleasantly surprised. “All nepotism aside, I actually find this very cool. The styling is fun. Reminds me of Karl’s extravagant era for Chanel in the 80s,” favored Wolkfolk straight away.
“I love this! It feels fresh. She looks like Rihanna in the first shot,” pointed out reesewu.
Also quick to voice support was Lola701: “She looks good! Chanel eyewear campaigns are everywhere usually so I’m already excited. Willow is believable as a Chanel girl, even if it will be interesting to see her evolution at Chanel. She can be a face of Coco Mademoiselle or Chance in the future!”
Yet not everyone was so enthusiastic toward Chanel’s latest signing. “The styling is so bad. Who are they trying to attract?” asked a dumbfounded sixtdaily.
Benn98 felt the same way, adding, “Truly hideous! Everything about it. God knows a model agency managed to invest in her. Stick to your tweeny music!”
“Horrible, she will never in my eyes be a Chanel girl,” snarled Nomar.
“This campaign is so bad,” burbuja8910 laughed.
