From Charlize Theron at Dior to Diane Kruger at Chanel, it’s been all about the glitz, the glam, and the celebrity at most of the cruise shows thus far, but at Monday’s Calvin Klein showing Ashley Olsen was the lone star in the front row. Olsen who has been a longtime supporter of Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa (think the beautiful white floor-length dress Olsen wore to the last Seventh on Sale Gala), toned a vintage Calvin Klein ensemble.
Costa’s showing was an intimate presentation held in his showroom and he says that he was inspired by images of reptiles, especially pythons, and scales for his resort collections this year.
His inspirations came through loud and clear in everything from a python skin coat, to tiered, scale-like pieces and a one-shoulder gown with pleats and a snakeskin print pattern.
Blending Calvin Klein’s signature, effortless simplicity and muted color a palette, with a bit of an edge and perhaps some Issey Miyake inspiration with all of the intricate pleated, Costa’s collection will likely be spotted on many fashionable bodies in the coming months.
