In a digitized world where social media reigns supreme, Facebook Live is steadily becoming another tool for brands to make big announcements. Over the weekend, Sports Illustrated announced Chase Carter as the second model lined up to appear in the highly anticipated 2018 Swimsuit Issue (SI Swimsuit’s 2017 Model Search winner Anne de Paula was already disclosed) by letting fans watch the reveal and accompanying photoshoot in real time via Facebook. Those who logged on were treated to a behind-the-scenes glimpse at Carter’s photoshoot in the Bahamas (the 20-year-old rookie is actually from the island nation, so it was a natural fit).

If you missed all the live action over the weekend, there’s no need to pout. SI is planning to reveal one model per photoshoot, live in the coming weeks and months on its Facebook page. Once a model has been identified, you’ll be able to access all kinds of goodies, from photoshoot sneak peeks to interviews. You can basically witness the 2018 issue come together without having to wait until the mag drops on newsstands in February. (Although, you will have to put up with all the cover reveal hype.) And for all you Instagram Stories die-hards, SI will be teasing you via that platform, too.
