Victoria Beckham has been getting a lot of ink these past two seasons for her namesake collection of dresses, and while I agree that it’s well deserved, there is no denying that she was greatly influenced by French designer Roland Mouret (who is said to have greatly helped her in the designing of her collection).
While it must be said that VB is in no small part responsible for Mouret’s return back to the fashion scene as a power player after the buzz she generated wearing his now famous moon dress, there’s nothing that can quite compare to the beauty, craftsmanship, and spot-on fit of a Roland Mouret piece.
For his Spring/Summer 2010 collection, Mouret showed a wide variety of colors and textures, and added some jumpers, crisp blazers, and outwear to the mix. The collection was very well styled with bold baubles, including insanely covetable spike bracelets, chunky and spiked gold necklaces, and checked, YSL-esque shoes, and was full of wearable pieces that were at once classic without being boring. Mouret has a knack for creating pieces that women of any age would look good in.
His clothes are always conservative, but still retain a feminine sex appeal while complementing the body in a powerful way.
