Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, J. Mendel – the masters of the masters – present their collections during the major Fashion Weeks of the world. Alongside the seasoned vets there are countless younger and fascinatingly talented designers like Alexander Wang and the boys of Proenza Schouler. Apparently that’s not enough to keep things interesting, however, because alongside those that have dedicated their life to the art of fashion are celebrities and pseudo celebrities looking to get in on the fashion game.
The biggest buzz of the season has got to be Erin Wasson and her line Erin Wasson x RVCA. The model (and once Alexander Wang muse) made a surprising decision to show in the tent at Bryant Park (the largest of the three venues, the tent holds over 1,000 people). That’s not where the surprising presentations end.
Sex and the City star Kristin Davis will debut The Kristin Davis Collection, an apparel collection at Style 360 which is headquartered at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Joining Davis at Style 360 will be Dash by Kim Kardashian, and Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne (between the celeb collection showcases there will also be, thankfully, the likes of seasoned vets Geren Ford, Rebecca Minkoff, and Project Runway vet Malan Breton).
Kelly Killoren Bensimon of The Real Housewives of New York fame will be showcasing her jewelry collection at the HauteLook lounge in the Bryant Park Hotel from September 10th to the 15th, while Shereé Whitfield of The Real Housewives of Atlanta is set to debut her line She By Shereé at the Met Pavillion on September 13th.
