And the Pantone Color of the Year Is…

Pantone has announced its color of the year, Marsala. If the oxblood-burgundy hue looks familiar to you, it’s probably because you’ve seen it in a wine glass before you passed out on the couch binge-watching Sons of Anarchy on Netflix.

But possibly the best thing about the announcement is Pantone’s lofty description of the color, which, not gonna lie, is making us really, really hungry. According to the Pantone website, Marsala is a “tasteful hue” that “embodies the richness of a fulfilling meal.” We can feel ourselves getting post-meal fatigue just looking at it.

In the end, we’re just glad Pantone picked a color that can flatter more than .2% of the population. This oxblood hue is perfect for makeup, apparel and home items – looks like 2015 is shaping up to be quite a chic year.

Men’s Fashion Week Could Be Coming to NYC

Fashion editors could be in for a busier than usual July. The CFDA has been shopping around the idea of holding a Men’s Fashion Week in New York City and it seems people are really getting behind the idea. As CFDA CEO Steven Kolb tells The New York Times, the idea has been getting support from designers and sponsors alike “because of the patriotism of it all, as American designers.”

America is chock-full of exceptional menswear designers, many of whom are gaining traction even in the womenswear market. Billy Reid, Public School and Thom Browne are just a few of the talents America harbors, all of which became popular thanks to innovative menswear designs.

Also, because New York City doesn’t have a Men’s Fashion Week, many American designers have felt forced to show in other countries. Buying season for menswear occurs over the summer, and those who can’t make the trip across the pond have to settle for showing collections in September, after buyers have made purchases. It simply doesn’t make any sense. It is also difficult for designers with smaller budgets to stage shows abroad. Plus, why should they have to?

The CFDA needs to raise $2 million in order to put the plan in motion and has until the start of 2015 to do so. Let’s hope the organization can get it together!

Olga Kurylenko Red Carpet Wardrobe for The Water Diviner Continues to Impress in Melbourne

Australia is going crazy for Russell Crowe’s The Water Diviner right now, but we’re also going bananas for leading lady Olga Kurylenko’s wardrobe on the red carpet circuit. We adored Olga’s mint-green Prada gown for the world premiere in Sydney, and now we’re totally digging her amped-up sex appeal for the Melbourne showing in an edgy Emilio Pucci mini.

It was all in the detailing with this one, featuring textured leather panels, including weaving and a disc pattern, plus funky fringing around the edges. The dark brown was levelled out with a white underlay, although the chocolate shade perfectly complemented the actress’ burgundy locks.

We can’t turn a blind eye to how insanely long Olga’s for-days legs look in the tiny number. They’re made even more noticeable thanks to the sexy caged heels she chose to pair it with. She pulled back her hair to make the frock’s collar and sleeve fringing pop, and her dark makeup polished off the entire look.

Corbin Harris Uses Sydney Shopping Centre as His Own Personal Skatepark

Who ever said shopping centres are just for shopping, hadn’t met skateboarder Corbin Harris. The globally-recognised athlete turned South Sydney’s Westfield Miranda into his own personal skatepark, to showcase the centre’s $45 million redevelopment in a promotional video.

The black-and-white clip sees Corbin harmlessly joyriding around the centre’s car park, before making the fashion crowd nervous with nifty kickflips outside the Zimmermann and Chanel stores. Seriously, Corbin, behave.

It’s all in the aim of showing off Westfield Miranda’s new assets after it recently opened on November 27. Corbin was an appropriate choice, seeing as he spent a lot of time in the centre as a kid. The skateboard he used, one of 100 limited-edition decks featuring artwork designed in collaboration with street artist Anthony Lister, is also available from the centre’s Surf, Dive and Ski store. He’s dressed in new season threads from a mix of Westfield Miranda’s retailers. (more…)

Charlotte Best was happy about two things at last night’s 4th AACTA Awards nomination event at Sydney’s The Star. Not only did she receive a nomination for best guest or supporting actress in a television drama for her role in season two of Puberty Blues, she also appeared to be the best dressed among the acting elite.

The 20-year-old actress looked a bohemian dream in a green lattice-print midi dress from Zimmermann’s stunning Ready-To-Wear Resort 2015 collection. The simple styling, including black two-strap shoes and bejewelled bracelets by Maniamania, had Charlotte looking effortlessly elegant. While we would’ve loved Charlotte to have styled her hair differently for once, her tousled balayage kept in line with the hippy-chic feel.

The 4th AACTA Awards will be held across two major events in late January, 2015, in Sydney, Australia.

Laura Dundovic stepped out in a flirty blue snakeskin dress from Watson x Watson’s Resort 2014 collection, teamed with white buckled sandals and a Thomas Sabo watch. The high pony and pink lip had the 27-year-old looking a little too party girl for our liking, which could’ve been avoided by trading up the hairstyle, makeup and shoes with more sophisticated choices.
