H&M Continues Australian Expansion with New Brisbane Stores

H&M is dead serious about the Australian market, having just announced two new stores for Brisbane next year. H&M’s got its hungry hands on Brisbane’s Indooroopilly Shopping Centre with a store opening this coming March. It doesn’t stop there, with Brisbane CBD’s 170 Queen Street locked down for late 2015 as well.

The Swedish retail giant has, quite literally, been working its way up in our country, opening its first Aussie store at Melbourne’s GPO as recently as April this year. Sydney’s Macquarie Centre shopfront soon followed in October.

We’re sure Brisbane residents who love affordable fashion will be gearing up for an inevitable in-store trample, but competing Australian retailers mightn’t be so happy. If H&M keep going at this rate consumers could quickly forget about their home-grown favourites.

The Pitch Perfect 2 Trailer Is Finally Here

There is only one place a cappella groups get any love post-college, and that’s in Hollywood. Just ask any of the cast members of Glee, or better yet, Pitch Perfect, which became an instant cult classic when it was released in 2012. The movie was so popular, that they’re rounding up Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Adam DeVine for the sequel, which is due to hit theaters in May of next year. 


We can hardly wait. And to hold us over until spring (it seems so, so far away), the trailer for the film has just been released and it is as great as we thought it would be. This time around, the Bellas are going up against some of the best singers in the world to win an international a cappella title – something an American team has never won. 

There are hot singing studs, snotty Europeans who speak eight languages (but not the one called “loser”), fart noises and the Green Bay Packers. Yup – the team’s offensive line makes an appearance in the film as a very buff group of male a cappella singers. And yes, you do get the chance to see their bulging muscles. Thank you, director Elizabeth Banks.

Did Kim Kardashian Just Try to Recreate Solange Knowles’ Wedding Photos?

Kim Kardashian has solidified herself as a pop culture icon. She’s absolutely everywhere. Whether she’s taking ass shots on Instagram or on the cover of Paper magazine, the reality star is as ubiquitous as sand in the Sahara Desert. Last week, her name was on just about everyone’s lips for that now-infamous butt-tastic magazine cover. But once the weekend hit, people quickly forgot all about Kim’s derrière and focused instead on something more “deeply tasteful,” which was Solange Knowles’ beautiful and extremely stylish wedding in New Orleans.

Talk about breaking the Internet. Solange’s photos — particularly that EPIC portrait of her female friends and family standing strong in all-white, the singer’s ‘fro like a halo around her head, looking all celestial — were simply everything. It was truly a moment, and definitely some of the best celebrity wedding photos we’ve seen. Plus, it didn’t take four days to produce, which is more than we can say for Kim’s wedding photo, which Kanye West spent a chunk of his honeymoon trying to perfect.

We’re sure that by now, Kim has already seen Solange’s wedding photos, probably in a hotel room somewhere in Australia eating Vegemite and crackers in bed with a glass of white wine, fuming at the idea that Solo’s nuptials were more popular on Instagram than her own. You know she called up Kris Jenner all like, “MOOOM, I thought we were the only famous family allowed to have a wedding! How could you let this sort of devastating slayage happen?”

Saint Laurent Taps Pierce Brosnan’s and Val Kilmer’s Sons for Latest Campaign


It seems “model” is the occupation of choice for celebrity offspring these days. From Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter Emma Ferrer to Lottie Moss, it seems that brands are eager to scoop up any and every person with a famous last name or star-studded bloodline. Saint Laurent is the latest label to get in on the trend, tapping the sons of two famous action movie leading men to appear in its latest menswear campaign.

Jack Kilmer, 19 (Val Kilmer’s son) and Dylan Brosnan, 17 (son of former 007 Pierce Brosnan) were tapped to front Saint Laurent’s Spring 2015 campaign. The pair was photographed by Hedi Slimane in black and white (naturally), mysteriously peering into the camera, while only barely showcasing the clothes. It’s quintessential Slimane for Saint Laurent and another friendly reminder that a family name and good connections can thrust you into the forefront of fashion.


And this may not be the last you see of the young lads. notes that we may even see the pair on the runway for the designer’s Fall 2015 collection. We hope the boys are perfecting their runway walks as we speak!

Monique Lhuillier and Goop Team Up for Holiday Collection

goop-monique-lhuillier-lWhatever negative things you have to say about Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle site Goop, that it doesn’t consistently peddle covetable and chic designer exclusives is definitely not one of them. The items may be pricey, but Goop’s designer collaborations always deliver, and the site can add this most recent partnership with Monique Lhuillier to its list of well-executed mash-ups. 

The pair have teamed up for a limited-edition collection, just in time for the holidays. The 16-piece range includes dresses, separates, a jacket and even footwear options — a pair of lacy ankle boots and strappy red sandals. The pieces, rendered in rich-looking fabrics, are enough to create a cute holiday party outfit (we love the idea of that full high-waisted ballroom skirt with one of the crop tops). The clothes hail from Lhuillier’s main line, her ML diffusion label and pieces she created exclusively for Goop.

The collection already has 14 of its 16 items available for purchase on the Goop website, and of course, prices are a little steep, starting at $215 for a crop top and peaking at $5,995 for a dress. Check out images from the collection below.  (more…)
