Over the weekend, the TFS forums leaked Taylor Swift's February Vogue cover. Late in December, a gust of cover gossip blew across the Internet, and people speculated that Adele was posing for the fashion bible's March issue and Taylor Swift was fronting the February cover. With Taylor confirmed as the February face, it's increasingly likely that in a few weeks time we'll see a Vogue cover featuring the lovely Adele.
Photographed by Mario Testino straight on, Swift wears a cozy, wintery sweater and a floppy, wide-brimmed hat. The cover was leaked on the same day as Bill Cunningham's "On the Street" feature about the brimmed hat as an emerging trend, a new staple of the modern silhouette. Coincidence or collusion? In a recession, this seems like a fashion fantasy: street style and high fashion editorial have arrived at the exact same place at the exact same moment in time. It's like evidence for the inevitability of fashion. Or—Bill Cunningham's been breaking into the Vogue offices and snooping around after-hours.
