Paper has gone from breaking the internet in 2014 to subtle and demure in 2018, and the magazine’s offering for fall shows no signs of reverting back. Along with Marie Claire and ELLE Australia, Paper jumps on the Emily Ratajkowski bandwagon, giving the cover of the fall fashion issue to the American model/actress and Kérastase brand ambassador. Instead of hiring a seasoned fashion photographer for the shoot, Paper enlisted Jordan Barrett (yes, the Aussie male model) to photograph Emily on location at The Bowery Hotel in New York City. Giving us modern-day Jackie Kennedy vibes, Emily sports a bobbed hairstyle, nude lips and red Valentino in the cover shot.
Our forum members are going to skip this issue, though. “So, Jordan Barrett is branching out to photography now?” asked amby upon checking out the cover.
“God, this magazine is such a joke! They were somewhat irrelevant until that infamous Kim K cover, and, despite the press and support they got from it, never quite managed to live up to the newfound hype. To go with the lesser of the Insta influencers shot by an equally lesser male model?” Benn98 asked.
“There are tons of struggling, yet insanely talented, photographers out there and this magazine gives Jordan Barrett the chance to shoot the cover. Unnecessary, uneventful, lazy, and unimaginative,” slated MON.

Mepps shared the same opinion: “So Jordan Barrett has branched out into crap photography now. Paper is and has always been garbage!”
“Very basic, like celebrity interviewing celebrity,” Perickles laughed.
“She is way past her shelf life as an Insta-girl, she could never really model and I don’t see any reason why you would want your magazine associated with such a cheap celebrity. Kim Kardashian is royalty by comparison, at least she’s well-known,” said YohjiAddict.
But not everyone was offended. “Pretty. I like the composition for this cover. Paper went from trashy covers to clean and simple… major re-brand,” admired RMDV.
“It looks very Italian. I really like it actually,” confessed GivenchyHomme.
